Santa Ynez Valley
Santa Barbara is known around the world as a great vacation destination and residential paradise. To some, it is even known as the American Riviera. What some people don’t know is that just to the north of Santa Barbara is an amazing destination and community as well, and that place is Santa Ynez. Ian Filippini Santa Barbara is particularly fond of Santa Ynez, and below are some of those reasons.
The Santa Ynez Valley is made up of several small towns including Santa Ynez, Solvang, Los Olivos, Buellton and Ballard. Each of these enclaves boast their own special things to do and to see, but when you put them all together, they make the valley that much better. Ian Filippini Santa Barbara has explored all over the valley and has found some great fun, friends and food along the way.
The Santa Ynez Valley is definitely known for their wine (www.visitsy.com). There are many vineyards and wineries all up and down the valley. In fact, you don’t even really need to look for them, you will most likely stumble upon one or two no matter where you are in the valley. Ian Filippini Santa Barbara’s favorite winery to visit is Carr vineyards and winery in Santa Ynez. You should really check it out! (www.carrwinery.com).
Solvang is another fun spot in the valley to visit. It is a small Danish inspired town that has authentic Danish foods, architecture and celebrations throughout the year. Danish Days (www.solvangdanishdays.org) is a festival that happens every September and The Taste of Solvang goes on every March. Ian Filippini Santa Barbara feels that it is a fun detour from the Spanish and Mexican heritage celebrations in Santa Barbara.
Los Olivos is a true little country town with a local tavern and everything! Ian Filippini Santa Barbara has visited Mattei’s Tavern on occasion and has never been dissapointed. There is always a small town country vibe to be had there and it is always a good time! Los Olivos also has a local jazz festival and does Olde Time Christmas in the winter.
No matter where you visit in the valley, you are sure to have a good time just like Ian Filippini Santa Barbara does. To find out more about Ian Filippini Santa Barbara visit http://ianfilippini.net/ and http://ianfilippini.co/.
