Santa Barbara Historical Museum
Santa Barbara is full of rich and amazing history. One of the places in town to learn about and appreciate this wonderful history is at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum. The museum is located in the Presidio neighborhood of Santa Barbara at 136 East De La Guerra (www.sbhistorical.org). The Presidio neighborhood is a piece of Santa Barbara history all on its own with original presidios remaining from the city’s inception.
The Santa Barbara Historical Museum was built in 1964 in an effort to celebrate and preserve the beautiful history of Santa Barbara. There is a large collection of original documents and artifacts that are housed in the museum.
Ian Filippini Santa Barbara enjoys that the museum offers rotating exhibits that include art and elements of historical events and traditions. Ian Filippini Santa Barbara visits the museum’s website to check out which exhibits on are display at any given time.
A permanent exhibit that Ian Filippini Santa Barbara likes to visit is “The Story of Santa Barbara” that explores the city from times of the Chumash to the mid 20th century. Of course the architecture of the museum boasts beautiful Spanish courtyards that lend to the history of Santa Barbara as well.
